Taking the overnight bus is the cheapest way to make this trip possible.

Stop 1: Kure and the Yamato Museum

Yamato Museum
Opening Hours: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Located in the historic naval city of Kure, this museum showcases Japan’s maritime and shipbuilding history.
Highlights:
- Massive 1:10 scale battleship Yamato model
- Naval engineering exhibits
- Excellent historical displays
Even if you’re not interested in military history, it’s surprisingly impressive.
Recommended stay: 1–2 hours
Stop 2: Hiroshima Peace Memorial Area
Back to Hiroshima Station, then take the tram.
Hiroshima Electric Railway

A peaceful riverside memorial dedicated to the victims of the atomic bombing.

One of Japan’s most important historical landmarks.
Seeing it in person is much more powerful than seeing photos.

The exhibits are emotionally heavy but incredibly important.

Stop 3: Miyajima

Before boarding the ferry, stop by:
Their famous conger eel rice bowl is a Hiroshima classic.
Price: around ¥2,800
Expensive, but excellent.
■ Itsukushima Shrine

One of Japan’s most iconic shrines.
Built over the water, it appears to float during high tide.
At low tide, you can walk close to the giant torii gate.
Things to enjoy

- Beer
- Friendly deer

Recommended stay: 2–3 hours
If you only have limited time, prioritize Miyajima over other stops.
Stop 4: Iwakuni
Access

Bus to bridge
Approx. 15 min / ¥300

One of Japan’s three most famous historic bridges.
Its five wooden arches make it incredibly photogenic.
Recommended stay: 30–60 min
If you’re short on time, this is the easiest stop to skip.

After a full day of moving nonstop, a seafood dinner near Hiroshima Station is the perfect finish.
